The “CHIKARA” Bicycle Helpmet created by Daisuke Sakaguchi

Flying through the flames and celebrating in a rain of spring cherry blossoms, this 1 of 1 transformed Giro bicycle helmet is decorated with two key motifs, the pair of male and female Cranes, the symbol for long life.

The hand painted piece is mounted on the custom built triple varnished pine wood stand that has the Japanese Kanji symbol of the title, “CHIKARA” - which means “POWER”.

Curated by Anita Zabludowicz (art collector and gallery owner of the Zabludowicz Collection) the “CHIKARA” bicycle helmet was exhibited at the Sotheby’s gallery, London, in September 2012 and was auctioned by Oliver Barker, Deputy Chairman of Sotheby’s, to raise money for The Legacy List Charity.
